Tool Decision Tree

Visual flowchart guide for choosing the right inspection tool - know exactly when and which tool to use

Last Updated: January 19, 2026

Before You Begin

Check the Symptom Scanner at the entrance gate. Icons light up to indicate which tool categories may be needed.

Breathing Check

Check for respiratory symptoms

Vitals Check

Check temperature and pulse

Eye Check

Check for ocular organisms

Reflex Check

Test neurological reflexes

Internal Check

Scan internal organs

If an icon doesn't light up, you can skip that tool category entirely - save time and resources!

Decision Flowchart

Follow this flow from top to bottom. Stop at any RED result for immediate liquidation.

1

Visual Inspection

Check eyes, skin, face for visible symptoms

Result: Bite mark, green skin, red eyes
Decision: Liquidate
Result: No obvious red symptoms
Decision: Continue to next step
2

Thermopulsometer

Check temperature and pulse. Wait for temp to stabilize!

Result: Normal (≤38°C, ≤120 BPM)
Decision: Continue
Result: Elevated (38-41°C, 120-180 BPM)
Decision: Quarantine
Result: Extreme (>41°C, >180 BPM)
Decision: Liquidate
3

Stethoscope

Place on chest, hover over black spots. Listen carefully.

Trigger: Use if coughing, sneezing, or hiccuping
Result: Sickly breath (wheeze)
Decision: Safe
Result: Nonspecific respiration
Decision: Quarantine
Result: Zombie growl (wet rattling)
Decision: Liquidate
4

Reflex Hammer

Hit forearm, observe response. Normal: arm swings back ~1 foot

Trigger: Use only if slack jaw or open mouth
Result: Absent reflex (no reaction)
Decision: Safe
Result: Hyperaggressive (attacks you)
Decision: Quarantine
Result: Crossed reflex (wrong limb moves)
Decision: Liquidate
5

Matioscope

Zoom out first to see all organisms at once

Trigger: Use only if droopy eyelids
Result: Bacterium, Helminth, Thread Cluster
Decision: Safe
Result: Phage Complex, Staphylococcus
Decision: Quarantine
Result: Necrotic Plume, Corneal Infiltrate
Decision: Liquidate
6

X-Ray Scanner

Check all 3 layers: Liver (L1), Lungs (L2), Brain (L3)

Result: Internal Bleeding, Fatty Hepatosis
Decision: Safe
Result: Color Differences
Decision: Quarantine
Result: Moldy Organ, Organ Necrosis
Decision: Liquidate
7

UV Tower

Activate UV light to reveal hidden symptoms

Result: UV Vapor only
Decision: Safe
Result: Hidden bite, Hidden necrosis
Decision: Liquidate

When to Skip Tools

Save time and resources by skipping tools when visual cues are absent.

No coughing, sneezing, or hiccuping

Skip: StethoscopeUnless: Symptom Scanner shows stethoscope icon

Normal jaw position (mouth closed)

Skip: Reflex HammerUnless: Symptom Scanner shows hammer icon

Normal eyelids (not droopy)

Skip: MatioscopeUnless: Symptom Scanner shows eye icon

Symptom Scanner icon is dark

Skip: That entire tool categoryUnless: You suspect hidden symptoms

Quick Decision Scenarios

Common situations and their recommended actions.

Visible bite mark anywhere on body

Liquidate immediately

Coughing + elevated temperature

Quarantine for observation

All tools show green results

Approve to Survivors Block

Multiple orange symptoms

Quarantine and recheck tomorrow

Any single red symptom

Liquidate immediately

Tools give conflicting readings

Use Syringe Scanner for certainty
