Stethoscope usage in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check

Visual Cues

Survivors with stethoscope symptoms often display visual cues: coughing, sneezing, or hiccupping. If you notice these behaviors, prioritize checking their breathing with the stethoscope.

How to Use the Stethoscope

1

Equip the Stethoscope

Pick up the stethoscope from the medical station or your inventory. It will display a view of the survivor's lungs with several black spots marked.

2

Hover Over Black Spots

Move your cursor to hover over each black spot on the lung diagram. These are the listening points where you can detect breathing abnormalities.

3

Listen Carefully to Each Spot

At each black spot, listen to the breathing pattern. Compare the sound to the three possible symptoms: slight wheeze (green), heavy wheeze with gurgling (orange), or zombie growl (red).

4

Mark the Worst Symptom Only

You only need to mark the most severe symptom found. If you hear both green and orange symptoms, only mark the orange one.

Sound Pattern Recognition

Normal Breathing (No Symptom)

Clear, regular breathing sounds with no wheeze, gurgling, or abnormalities. Do not mark anything.

Sickly Breath

Green - Safe

Sound Cue

Breathing with a slight wheeze

Action

Allow into Living Block

A subtle wheezing sound during breathing. The survivor is not infected, just has minor respiratory issues.

Nonspecific Respiration

Orange - Quarantine

Sound Cue

Heavy wheeze with gurgling mixed in

Action

Send to Quarantine

More severe breathing issues with audible gurgling. Must be unlocked in the lab first. The survivor may or may not be infected.

Zombie Growl

Red - Infected

Sound Cue

Zombie growling instead of breathing

Action

Liquidate Immediately

Unmistakable zombie sounds coming from the lungs. The survivor is definitely infected and must be eliminated. Must be unlocked in the lab first.

Pro Tips

Survivors with stethoscope symptoms often cough, sneeze, or hiccup - watch for these visual cues before checking
You only need to mark the worst symptom. If you find both green and orange, only mark orange
Use headphones for better audio clarity - the sound differences can be subtle
Check all black spots, not just the first one - symptoms can appear at any listening point
The stethoscope symbol on the entrance scanner tells you if you need to check breathing at all

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Not checking all listening points

Always hover over every black spot - symptoms can be at any one

Marking both green and orange symptoms

Only mark the most severe symptom you find

Using stethoscope on survivors without the visual cue

Check the entrance scanner - if the stethoscope symbol isn't lit, skip this tool

Confusing normal breathing with symptoms

Normal breathing has no wheeze at all - if you hear any abnormal sound, it's a symptom
